After more than 41 years of dedicated, effective, and selfless leadership and service, Doug Wilson has retired from his position as Vice President of Sales for Ingersoll Rand Residential HVAC and Supply, NA. Doug’s contributions are immeasurable, and are a significant factor in the success of the business. Doug has been a role model leader, nurturing and mentoring countless individuals across the decades. He will be missed!
Following is the text of Doug’s letter to his colleagues and teammates:
On June 30th, I will retire from the business after 41 years, 19 days, and a few odd hours. I have to say, it got here pretty quickly.
It has been a fabulous ride. I’ve watched our residential business evolve from “appliances” sold by HVAC installers back in the mid 70’s to the sophisticated “comfort systems” of today, sold to a very educated and discriminating consumer. This business has given me everything I could ever wish for in a career. It remains a fabulous business, with many challenges yet to face, but so many opportunities yet to grab. I have especially enjoyed getting to know the individuals who make up our dealer and distributor community, the heart and soul of our endeavors. I have long held the belief that ours is a contractor-driven business, and we’ve been so blessed to have highly-committed distributors to take care of them. I’ve never experienced the passion surrounding our brand and channel in any other assignment in my career. There is a very special culture in the American Standard business that makes it unique. It is palpable to those who experience it for the first time….please keep that spirit alive! It serves you well.
Finally, one of the nice by-products of being around so long is having lots of folks to acknowledge. Rather than name anyone specifically, let me thank all of you for your friendship, trust, and confidence over the past seven years. It has been my privilege to work with you, and I have enjoyed my tenure with the American Standard channel as much or more than anything I’ve done professionally. I have tremendous confidence in the present leadership of this business, and it is impossible to overstate the potential of this extended “one team”. The fun stuff is just starting! Rest assured I’ll be watching with pride.
Thanks again for everything, I hope our paths cross again. Much love to you all.
Now…..if you’ll excuse me, there is horrible golf to be played!
Vice President, Sales
